Dear parents, carers and friends,
When I re-read the last newsletter, I realised that all I had done was moan and complain, when so many of you are trying so hard to support us. So, for this newsletter, I promise that there will only be good news and some exciting opportunities. (The governors, Education Welfare and I are writing individually to people who are not helping, so they get all the moaning.)
So, on with the good news:
School closes for half term tomorrow! We’re now half way through the year.
Attendance is up, and children have been determined to attend despite feeling unwell.
Uniform is much, much better in 99% of cases.
(Most importantly) the half year assessment data shows us that we are on course to meet our very high targets by the end of the year!
Enough good news? No? Well, here’s some more. We have two exciting opportunities coming up just after half term: an administrative role in the school office, and the chance to join the Governing Body as we are on the look out for parent governors. You want more? Well, we’ve managed to secure a fruit delivery so our children of all ages can access healthy snacks every day. (All the information is attached to this newsletter). We’ve got more extra-curricular activities than we’ve had before, all of which are really well attended, and, if that wasn’t enough, it’s supposed to snow tonight! (And, yes, if we’re open, everyone is expected in.)
Thank you for not bringing in bikes and scooters during the cold weather. When they return, could you ensure your children do not use them in the main playground.
Finally, all joking aside (but still good news) I am delighted with the way our first half of this year has gone. The school looks amazing; even with our term 2 dip, our attendance is on course to be the best ever; uniform is very smart; and our assessment information tells us that things are heading in the right direction. Here’s to a brilliant second half of the year.
Have a good break everyone – let’s have more good news (and wrap up warm everyone!).
Yours
Zak Willis
